The new O Prototype in Fiji

By Tiziana Baldini |

Great to see The O prototype now installed at the Suva Arts Council in Fiji!

This full‑scale prototype tests two modules of the wider O structure, integrating solar energy generation and rainwater collection within a public social space. The glulam timber structure incorporates concealed, fully demountable bolted connections and is designed to resist cyclonic wind loads, while allowing straightforward disassembly at the end of its life.

Bringing together timber construction, renewable energy, and water harvesting, the prototype responds to Fiji’s climatic conditions and is already being used for informal gatherings, running on the renewable energy generated on site!
